Digital collections & Online Sources

In this section you find a selection of Open Access corpora, databases and digital editions of high scientific quality, which are particularly useful for study and research in philosophy. Both consolidated institutional projects, such for example the Bonner Kant's Corpus or the Perseus Digital Library, and innovative digital editions such as Ethica, work without obstacle are here presented.

Ethica, work without obstacle (Latin, French, Brasilian and English). This is a free internet application for internet and smartphones which proposes a digital and augmented edition of the Ethics by Spinoza. Thanks to an unprecedented visualization of the text, Ethica makes visible the demonstrative network of the work. The user can see and read freely the text, explore it in a innovative and intuitive way. Video comments from 100 philosophers from around the world accompany him in his readings. He can share his discoveries, his questions and thus participate building a global community of readers-interpreters.

Nietzsche Source
Nietzsche Source publishes essential and reliable scholarly editions and translations of Nietzsche’s works and Nachlass. Two editions are currently under publication in Nietzsche Source: the facsimile edition of the Nietzsche estate and the digital version of the standard critical edition. The genetic editions of two of Nietzsche’s works The Wanderer and his Shadow and Dawn, including the reproduction of all related manuscripts, are in preparation. Digitale Kritische Gesamtausgabe – Digital version of the German critical edition of the complete works of Nietzsche edited by Giorgio Colli and Mazzino Montinari. An international collaboration committed to creating an open educational resource featuring a corpus of digital texts, deep-reading tools, and open-source software. We strive to support and enhance teaching and research. All materials can be downloaded, modified, and redistributed in accordance with all applicable licenses.
Perseus Digital Library
The Perseus Digital Library, founded as and still often known as the Perseus Project, is an evolving digital library of resources for the study of the humanities. We are funded to perform research on developing tools to provide users with improved access to various types of materials. Past work has focused on building and linking together collections. Current work considers ways of developing and refining tools for presentation of the materials in the Perseus DL. We are primarily a research project, although we do incorporate services for our audience.
schleiermacher digital
In the academy project "Schleiermacher in Berlin 1808-1834", in addition to the digital Schleiermacher Edition, volumes of the Historical-Critical Complete Edition (KGA) of Schleiermacher from the departments Letters (V) and Lectures (II) will be produced, which will be published by Walter de Gruyter Verlag. Thematic anthologies and essays evaluate the newly edited texts in a both historical and systematic perspective. Zu den Tageskalendern Schleiermachers Tageskalender (1808–1834) erscheinen exklusiv sukzessive in digitaler Edition. Zu den Briefen Die digitale Edition bietet gegenwärtig in historisch-kritischer Version Schleiermachers Korrespondenz der Jahre 1808–1810. Ab 2020 wird ein Sachkommentar zu den Briefen 1808–1810 hinzukommen sowie die Angaben zur Korrespondenz der Jahre 1811–1816 (ohne Brieftexte). Ab 2022 ebenfalls in historisch-kritischer Version die Texte der Korrespondenz 1811–1816. Zu den Vorlesungen Die digitale Edition enthält gegenwärtig die Transkription einer Vorlesungsnachschrift zu Schleiermachers Ästhetikkolleg 1832/33. Sukzessive werden weitere Texte zur Ästhetik sowie zur Schleiermachers Vorlesungen über Praktische Theologie und über Philosophische Ethik ergänzt.
Wittgenstein Source
Wittgenstein Source provides free access to Wittgenstein primary sources. This includes facsimiles and text editions of Wittgenstein’s philosophical manuscripts (his “Nachlass”). Wittgenstein Source is developed and run by the Wittgenstein Archives at the University of Bergen (WAB, in cooperation with net7, Pisa, and the Section for Digital Services at the University of Bergen University Library. Scholars and organizations are invited to contribute further editions to Wittgenstein Source.

Soren Kierkegaard's writings (SKS) is a complete new edition of everything written by Søren Kierkegaard. SKS is published by the Søren Kierkegaard Research Center.
Corpus Thomisticum

The Corpus Thomisticum project aims to provide scholars with a set of instruments of research on Thomas Aquinas, freely available via Internet. It has five parts: A full edition of the complete works of St. Thomas according, where possible, to the best critical texts. A bibliography covering all the studies on Aquinas and his doctrine, from the 13th century through our days. An index of the main tools of Thomistic research, and the edition of the most important among them. A database management system, implemented to search, compare, and sort words, phrases, quotations, similitudes, correlations, and statistical information. A digital edition of the main manuscripts of Aquinas' works.

The Bonner Kant-Korpus
At the Institute for Communication Research and Phonetics (now merged into the Institute for Communication Sciences) of the University of Bonn, Immanuel Kant's works, correspondence and handwritten estate are available as electronically stored data sets. Since 2008 has taken over the provision and maintenance of the data. The data largely correspond to the first three sections, i.e. volumes 1-23, of the Academy edition of Kant's writings. They are coded in standardized form with Unicode and XML and can be read and searched via this website.
